Ihor wanted to move to America for all his adult life. To Europe, at worst. But his dream was destined to come true only partially – it’s his kidney that moves abroad… His own wife persuades Ihor to sell his organ to Hamburg. Operation will be held illegally and there’s no guarantee that he’ll be given all of the promised money. But the advance is already paid. His wife seems to be satisfied. Now she’s got a new handbag.

Germán is a driver and transports women who work as slaves in brothels on the Costa del Sol. Broke and lost, he tries to get by working for his friend Cacho, who manages several of these clubs for a local mafia. One night he is presented with what seems like a chance to change his life, but this decision will put him in more danger than ever. Hamburg Transit was a German crime television series that first aired in 1970. It ran for 52 episodes over four series until 1974. It depicts the officers of the Hamburg CID. It was a successor to the show Polizeifunk ruft which ran between 1966 and 1970.

Three prisoners, Combe from Rijeka, Menso from Bosnia, and Bogart from Belgrade, escape from prison. Their final destination is the city of their dreams - Hamburg. They temporarily part ways and agree to meet at the train station in Zagreb. First, each of them goes to his hometown. From there on, we follow three separate stories. In the first, Combe, in the shady harbor district of Rijeka, tries to get back at his former crime partner, Mrvi, who turned him in to the police. In the second story, we witness Mensa's relationship with his wife Riza and their children in a small Bosnian village. The third story depicts Bogart's love affair with a young teacher in a Belgrade suburb. Afterwards, at the train station in Zagreb, Bogart finds out from the newspaper that the police caught his friends. At the last minute, he changes the original plan.

The German actor Manfred Zapatka broadcasts in full, in an unusual reading form, the two sermons of the imam of the Hamburg mosque Mohammed Fazazi delivered in January 2000.
